I am a seeking man

Poetry

This is a place where once a week original poetry will be posted. Sometimes the author will explain the poem, sometimes the poem will be left to explain itself.

I Am A Seeking Man

I do not know if I am

a good religious man,

but know that I am a seeking man,

a seeking deeper wisdom man,

I’m mostly seeking truth.

To find it I must test it,

test what I think is so

To find it I must first test a bit

deep inside my soul

For more compelling clues.

I know I’ll never reach the end

of all the mysteries

But I’m looking day-by-day

behind the histories

to read unwritten news.

“The poor in spirit are by no means poor-spirited. They are persons who see so much to be, so much to do, such limitless reaches to life and goodness that they are profoundly conscious of their insufficiency and incompleteness.” ~Rufus Jones, The Inner Life , p. 19
