"While not a silent place, it is a quiet place...." ~Marc Christensen

Here is Marc's Profound Photo for this month. There are so many ways to talk about quiet, peace, silence, contemplation and there are a few talented people, like Marc, who can not only speak eloquently about this but can also show us this through his lens. Here he has done both.

You can learn more about Marc on our Profound Pictures Contributor's tab. Marc is a regular contributor to this series, where the artist/photographer selects a photo they consider profound and then describes why, or simply lets the image speak for itself.

Quiet Pools

I made this picture in the Hill Country of Texas near, believe it or not, Utopia, Texas. This was a wonderful spot to just sit and contemplate as the Sabinal River babbled gently nearby. Its quiet pools of water offered reflections of the landscape and the changing light as the sun was heading towards sunset. While not a silent place, it is a quiet place where what you hear is the rhythm of nature that soothes, relaxes and refreshes.

“The poor in spirit are by no means poor-spirited. They are persons who see so much to be, so much to do, such limitless reaches to life and goodness that they are profoundly conscious of their insufficiency and incompleteness.” ~Rufus Jones, The Inner Life , p. 19
