Repairing the Earth - Part II

Michael Kroth • April 26, 2026

This is often quiet work. The work that rarely makes headlines.

Last time I wrote an essay on Substack I called
Repairing the Earth - Part I.  Here I go a step further, and expand the notion of repairing beyond fixing, to healing and nurturing.   Here's the video I used to tee it up.  I have a link to the essay, but I also have a link below to a summary you can download if you would like to get the gist.

Question

Where in your life are you being invited not just to repair—but to heal and nurture?

The best way to share your thoughts about this is on my Substack (my site is totally free) here:

Just A Heads Up

I’m beginning to use this Profound Living space differently than my Substack essays. Here there will be more of an emphasis on short reflections, videos, and  exploring ideas. There, there will be longer essays, many related to this idea of Messy Elegance that I'm exploring.

I'll also tee up my Substack essays here, like I'm doing here, so you can follow those as well, if you wish.  Substack is a much better place for engagement and feedback from you than here at the Profound Living blog, and I want to provide that opportunity for anyone who wants to weigh in on this or that.

The idea is to avoid duplication between the two sites, while giving the maximum opportunity to see what's going on in each place.  Here, I'm thinking we may also have - as we have had in the past - guest photos and essays in addition to what I'll be adding myself.

It's an experiment - we'll see how it works out!

Earth Day is this week. As we consider the state of our world - and the ecology of both our material and spiritual environment - it makes sense to ask what our role is, has been, and is supposed to be in relationship to "our common home" (Pope Francis).

“The poor in spirit are by no means poor-spirited. They are persons who see so much to be, so much to do, such limitless reaches to life and goodness that they are profoundly conscious of their insufficiency and incompleteness.” ~Rufus Jones, The Inner Life , p. 19
