C’mon Folks

by

Michael Kroth

It’s coming like a rumble

C’mon folks, a lightning crack

And then a rumble,

A rumbling, rumble that won’t

Subside.

It’s coming like electric shock

C’mon folks, a sticker shock

And then a shock,

Another shock, the shocking shock

Abides.

It’s coming like a punch

C’mon folks, a sudden punch

Another punch,

A crunching punch, a punch that still

Resides.

A nation set asunder

Going under

Set up for plunder

Well…no wonder

Voters blundered.

But…

We're comin’ like a rumble

Won’t subside.

Electric shock

Will abide.

Crunching punch.

Will reside.

C’mon folks,

It's time to rumble.

C’mon folks,

It's time to tumble.

C'mon folks,

Punch Back.

“The poor in spirit are by no means poor-spirited. They are persons who see so much to be, so much to do, such limitless reaches to life and goodness that they are profoundly conscious of their insufficiency and incompleteness.” ~Rufus Jones, The Inner Life , p. 19
