Haiku

Fly like an eagle.

Or rest like one in alert stillness.

Who’s looking at whom?

Comment:

Most of my photography is of landscapes, often with a bit of abstractness thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately, I do not have the right gear for capturing birds, whether resting or in flight, such as a powerful zoom lens, so I wasn’t sure how these photographs taken with only a small zoom would come out. Fortunately, for this image, I was able to crop the raw file and sharpen the image to present a reasonable good image of the two eagles. Interestingly, it wasn’t until I was reviewing and cropping the images did I notice the second eagle to the lower right of the first.

If “expensive” were one of the principal attributes of what it means to be elegant then most of the world could never experience elegance. But anyone can, it turns out.

Earth Day is this week. As we consider the state of our world - and the ecology of both our material and spiritual environment - it makes sense to ask what our role is, has been, and is supposed to be in relationship to "our common home" (Pope Francis).

Here are some initial thoughts about elegance, nature, and depth; a poem about happiness; and even a haiku.
