Here is the latest from Antonia Cardella - Part of the Profound Pictures Series

Here is this month's Profound Picture - artistry by Antonia (TJ) Cardella. You can learn more about TJ on our Profound Pictures Contributor's tab. She is a regular contributor to this series, where the artist/photographer selects a photo or work of art they have created and consider to be profound. Then the contributor describes why, or simply lets the image speak for itself, as she has done here.

I love what TJ has to say (below) about this watercolor she created. She has a wonderful sense of humor, but the message is an important one. How well can we hear what is loudest and closest to us? Now that's profound food for thought!

Why I Chose This

By Antonia (TJ) Cardella

For me, this piece has always been about the two poor guys holding the horn. It’s got to be incredibly loud. I think it might be profound because those closest to a message might not hear it properly due to its proximity. Maybe distance (and time) are necessary for true clarity? It’s early. I might not know what I’m talking about. Maybe it’s just some little guys with a big horn.

Earth Day is this week. As we consider the state of our world - and the ecology of both our material and spiritual environment - it makes sense to ask what our role is, has been, and is supposed to be in relationship to "our common home" (Pope Francis).

“The poor in spirit are by no means poor-spirited. They are persons who see so much to be, so much to do, such limitless reaches to life and goodness that they are profoundly conscious of their insufficiency and incompleteness.” ~Rufus Jones, The Inner Life , p. 19
