Humbling
Here is the latest for our Profound Picture Series, by Marc Christensen
Here is Marc's Profound Photo for this month. As always, his picture and his description beautifully fit our series.
You can learn more about Marc on our Profound Pictures Contributor's tab. Marc is a regular contributor to this series, where the artist/photographer selects a photo they consider profound and then describes why, or simply lets the image speak for itself.
Why I Chose This Photo
By Marc Christensen
I took this on the Isle of Staffa in Scotland. I'd label it "Humbling", though I think it could also be labeled as "On the Edge" or "Are you nuts?" I chose "Humbling" because the small size of the people against the vastness of the cliff, the ocean and sky caused me to react and make the picture. I gasp just a little about how small we are in the great vastness of God's creation. I look at this picture and tell myself to be thankful for my life in this universe but also to never overestimate my significance. My Dad had a saying to put things in perspective and keep one humble, "Put your hand in a bucket of water and pull it out. The hole that's left is how much you'll be missed." He wan't being at all cruel as he was a wonderful and loving man. He was simply teaching me never to over inflate or overestimate my own importance, or, for that matter, the importance of anyone else.
