Man on Comfy Chair

Watercolor by Antonia Cardella

Here is this month's artistry by Antonia (TJ) Cardella. I like it because it reminds me...of me! Nothing better than a book, a puppy in your lap, a cup of something hot nearby, in your jammies, with curtains open and the world streaming in.

You can learn more about TJ on our Profound Pictures Contributor's tab. She is a regular contributor to this series, where the artist/photographer selects a photo or work of art they have created and consider to be profound. Then the contributor describes why, or simply lets the image speak for itself.

I love TJ's work. It is original. It is completely from her. The art she produces is totally out of her imagination, combined with innate talent and developed skill. These are all de profundis - out of the depths of who she is.

From The Artist:

This scene is pure bliss. I feel like it’s symbolic as well as concrete. Comfy chair, puppy, book, tea... and a crescent moon to top it off.

Earth Day is this week. As we consider the state of our world - and the ecology of both our material and spiritual environment - it makes sense to ask what our role is, has been, and is supposed to be in relationship to "our common home" (Pope Francis).
