A Lake Of Diamonds
Fishing For The Present Moment
A lake of diamonds

each one enlightens
I so enjoy going fishing with my friend Louie. On the rare occasion that we (actually he...) catch a fish we toss it back. Many times, I don't even have a line in the water. I fish for the present moment. To be away from phone service, meetings, the-next-thing-whatever-it-is, and to be immersed in the outdoors - to be totally present is incredibly freeing and spacious and restful. The conversation is easy, we've been doing this for so many years that we are comfortable in both words or silence - the silence that comes from watching a fire, the early morning sun rise on your left with the moon sitting on your right, or driplets of waves that reflect tiny, glittering diamonds on the water, all allow a peaceful resting in the moment.
Where shall we explore

I'm not an experienced hiker, camper, or outdoorsperson. It is extremely unlikely that I will ever venture too far from the beaten path. However, every new step, every new location, every simple or breathtaking view I might experience are adventures for me. I open myself up to the mysterious flames and smoke and heat of a fire. I...am...there. Present. Fully engaged.
Kindling dormant sparks
smold'ring flames unloosed
